Life with teens can be brutal; but fun is found in the little things.
Like a friendly game around the table...oh, wait....teenagers..game..friendly?
Pizza. I have never met a teenager who didn't like pizza. My teens love to gather in the kitchen, raid the fridge for leftovers, and turn it into a pizza. Here we have farm boy's barbeque chicken pizza- equip with his very own barbeque sauce he canned last spring.
Cake. This was some cake. Being his birthday, my farm boy took great pains to make clear the cake he wanted...and it involved a lot of cream puffs. He looks like one happy teen don't you think?
Company. A last minute call was made to invite someone to share some of the pizza and cake..our invites are never turned down...especially when if offers opportunity to pester a few teenagers (after all, that's what great grandparents are good for).
Closeness. I think this pictures says it all.
Oh, yes. At the end of the day, despite the emotional whirlwinds, crazy schedules, papers and projects and friend-things (don't go there)...yes, at the end of the day life with teens is fun. Their laughter is louder than their scorn; their quirky ways are brighter than their misgivings.
At the end of the day, I sat with my farm boy..watching him devour one last piece of cake...and asked him what he thought of this day and he......
..popped a cream puff in his mouth and smiled. I guess that says it all.
Enjoy your teens today!
