Older teens have their own demands in their lives, parents each have their demands..all add strain to the family dynamic. When tensions run high, patience runs low, and the over all hectic feeling seems to rule the home front..it's time for some family down time. Game night with fun food and rowdy laughter can be a great break from a crazy season; movie night provides a restful down time..piling on the couch with some nachos and 'movie candies'. Sometimes it's gathering around the kitchen, all hands prepping a big comfort meal, then gathering around the table..dim lights and gentle conversation. It doesn't have to be expensive..just together. Group is great, but sometimes it's personal.
Time alone; a reconnection to the notion I am a person...necessary! Life is crazy, people are crazy and sometimes it's catching. When crazy starts to take hold, I head for the coffee and a place to breath. Quiet walks, time in the greenhouse, a few hours alone for sewing...or just a flop out on my bed in the middle of the chaos...healing! Still no need for spending, just a little regroup..does the mommy good.
Now, with all this talk of down time...I think I need some!

I LOVE THIS POST!!!You are so right! I crave it and yet can never seem to get it. I begin to feel guilt about all the things I SHOULD be doing instead of just taking the time to re-charge my battery so to speak.Thank You!! I am taking my cup of coffee out to the porch and just sit for a few months alone in the quiet. The guys are all off hunting and I will use this quiet time to just be still.<3
Oh yes...I believe down time is essential...and having some right now. LOL
