SIP's Revisited

When summer turned to winter our little farm had been suffering under the oppression of a terrible drought; a drought with no end in sight. In an effort to make gardening happen despite the environment we made 'self-irrigating-planters'; SIP's.
Here in the midst of a very mild southern winter the garden grows with green abundance, and the SIP's, well, they are working out quite nicely. Tomatoes are thriving filled with clusters of beautiful tomatoes. Herbs and greens stand with vigor; multiple cuttings and rapid regrowth already this season.
So, my outtake on this little experiment: they are worth it. Convenient, frugal and productive..yes, I think the SIP's will be in service for garden seasons to come.
